Above: Reg tried many ways to earn a living after the war, including making sweets and popcorn. He sold these on the markets. When sugar rationing was ending, an old man asked if he would like to buy his sweet factory. Reg jumped at the opportunity.  Dorothy ran the shop, while Reg did other things, and began repairing old radiograms and playing piano in clubs.

REG fell in love with Dorothy at first sight.  She worked in the doctor's surgery behind his house and he could see her - but she ignored his advances.  Eventually - when she did agree to go out with him, he proposed to her within a week.  They were just eighteen and they married in June 1946.  Living with Reg was a little like being on a rollercoaster.  Dorothy never knew what he would be doing next!
