Reg and Dorothy Calvert 'discovered' Pinkerton's Assorted Colours.  The group, from Rugby, often played at the dance-halls Reg and Dorothy ran in the Midlands.  In 1965, they decided to launch the group professionally and change their name from The Liberators to 'Pinkertons.'  Tony Newman, lead singer, wrote the song 'Mirror Mirror,' and it was released in the spring of 1966 to great success.  After the death of Reg Calvert, the group had no 'manager' although they continued to receive bookings through Kings Agency and made further records which did not achieve the success  that their first record had received.
